New Akropolis Media Arts is an organization with the goals of fostering the appreciation of independent and international cinema through exhibition in Akron and providing educational and professional opportunities in the media arts with an emphasis on digital media.
New Akropolis will accomplish these goals through two instruments:
The Akron Cinema Society will bring independent and international cinema to area theaters as well as provide programming and adult classes associated with cinema appreciation and education for both the novice and the professional.
Ghost Dog Digital Arts Dojo will provide educational opportunities and practical applications for area youth to explore and better understand the digital world around them. Year long and Summer programming will create opportunities to learn about digital media creation and understanding of how digital communication speaks to us.
